It\u2019s a quieter cousin to nearby Skiathos, with small churches clinging to cliffs and walking routes that pass through pine forests, orchards and sea views. It is worth exploring the town and enjoy the great sea views, panoramas on hillsides. The pace of life is leisurely in town. Maritime history though comes alive in a walk from the Captain-town houses.\u00a0<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span class=\"style_4\">A charming\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"style_6\">port<\/span><span class=\"style_4\">\u00a0to wander in the small fishing harbour quay, sample the local dishes in the recommended tavernas by the locals and enjoy the Greek hospitality.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span class=\"style_4\">Traditional\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"style_6\">villages<\/span><span class=\"style_4\">, there are two absolute gems on the island: Town and Glossa in the far north-west. Glossa, is more authentic still with its whitewashed houses on a hillside. I spent a pleasant couple of hours there, strolling upwards along quiet alleys, past shuttered homes through the lunchtime heat, to the village square. An oasis of shade, facing the Panagia Church and in the corner the \"Plateia Cafe\" serving the best local cheese pie \"Skopelitiki\".<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_6\"><span class=\"style_4\">Then there\u2019s its beautiful, picturesque, shingle, pebble or sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Backed by green hills full of pine and\u00a0 olive trees are quiet. Kastani, a \u201cMamma Mia\u201d location is really pretty. Another of my favourite ones is Panormos Beach. It is worth exploring the town and enjoy the great sea views, panoramas on hillsides. The pace of life is leisurely in town. Maritime history though comes alive in a walk from the Captain-town houses.\\u00a0<br \\\/><\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n<p class=\\\"paragraph_style_6\\\"><span class=\\\"style_4\\\">A charming\\u00a0<\\\/span><span class=\\\"style_6\\\">port<\\\/span><span class=\\\"style_4\\\">\\u00a0to wander in the small fishing harbour quay, sample the local dishes in the recommended tavernas by the locals and enjoy the Greek hospitality.<br \\\/><\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n<p class=\\\"paragraph_style_6\\\"><span class=\\\"style_4\\\">Traditional\\u00a0<\\\/span><span class=\\\"style_6\\\">villages<\\\/span><span class=\\\"style_4\\\">, there are two absolute gems on the island: Town and Glossa in the far north-west. Glossa, is more authentic still with its whitewashed houses on a hillside. I spent a pleasant couple of hours there, strolling upwards along quiet alleys, past shuttered homes through the lunchtime heat, to the village square. An oasis of shade, facing the Panagia Church and in the corner the \\\"Plateia Cafe\\\" serving the best local cheese pie \\\"Skopelitiki\\\".<br \\\/><\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n<p class=\\\"paragraph_style_6\\\"><span class=\\\"style_4\\\">Then there\\u2019s its beautiful, picturesque, shingle, pebble or sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Backed by green hills full of pine and\\u00a0 olive trees are quiet. Kastani, a \\u201cMamma Mia\\u201d location is really pretty. Another of my favourite ones is Panormos Beach.
