About Alonissos

Alonissos remains an island of natural beauty, one of the last eco-paradises left in the Mediterranean Sea.

Alonissos is a nature lover’s paradise – quiet, green, and deeply restorative. As part of the largest marine park in Europe, it offers pristine waters, scenic hiking trails, and a slower, more reflective pace of island life. Elena’s Alonissos island guide helps you uncover cliff-top views, shaded pine walks, and authentic local tavernas tucked into hilltop villages. For those craving meaningful stillness, it’s a place that rewards curiosity and calm. Alonissos also works beautifully with other thoughtful experiences – consider combining it with a stay in one of Greece’s small boutique luxury hotels, adding a few days on a writing retreat, or pausing in a heritage property elsewhere in Greece.

During my visit to the island, I was lucky to stay at a beautiful beachfront, traditional guest house and experience the local hospitality. Beautiful memories of the beach of Glyfa. Nearby Steni Vala, a small fishing village located in the north-east, approximately 10 km from the port Patitiri.

Traditional villages, green landscape, stunning pebbled beaches, with green-blue crystal clear water. The main village (Chora) is truly picturesque and every spot gives view to the sea. I had some amazing local dishes and enjoyed good wine.

Everyday life on the island is full of new experiences, fishing, hiking / trekking, canoeing, kayaking, diving, swimming.

Alonissos is a place to celebrate nature. Driven by this natural festive spirit, visitors can’t miss local festivals and traditional customs revived. Annual events combine local culinary, with historical and religious background, natural surroundings and the genuine spirit of local people.

Island: Alonissos (or Liadromia) belongs to the complex of Sporades Islands. The complex of Sporades Islands consists of the following islands: Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, Skyros and many more islands that are largely uninhabited (Peristera, KiraPanagia, Psathoura, Skantzoura, etc).

We at askelenatravel.com are vacation specialists for Sporades archipelago. Let us share and discover the beauties of the islands.
